He was predeceased by: his parents, James William and Helen Grace Sherman (Fiddock); his sisters, Marjorie Lindekugel, Margaret Rubenthaler, Mildred Dodge and Edith Diehl; and his daughter-in-law Tammy Mathewson.

He is survived by: his wife Mary E. Sherman; his son Bill Sherman; his grandchildren, Travis Sherman (Leah), Ryne Sherman (Lily) and Cara Wieser (Aaron); his son Brad Sherman; his grandchildren, Melissa Feavel (Matt), J. D. Sherman, Sean Sherman (Shauna) and Joel Sherman (Traci); his son Jeff Sherman (Lori); his grandchildren, Keli Meraz (Adrian) and Kayla Sherman; his daughter Becky Fritzler (Chris); his grandchildren, Kyle Fritzler (Sarah), Ethan Fritzler (Sadie) and Kirstyn Fritzler; his son Tom Sherman (Betsy); his grandchildren, Justin Sherman, Kristen Sherman, Abby Miller and Kimberly Miller; and his daughter-in-law Peggy Sherman. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
