He was predeceased by: his parents, James Irwin and Margaret Irwin (Mullen); and his siblings, Shirley Grilli, James Irwin and Richard Irwin.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Irwin; his sister Maureen Brahney (Edward); his children, Michael Irwin (Vivian), Devon Morrigan, Kathy Heffington Gurnett, Susan Meyer (James) and Shannon Prairie (Troy Prairie); and his grandchildren, Christina Janssen (Ryan), Catherine Pennell (Joseph), Ryan Kerwin, Aaron Kerwin (Sarah), Jason Kerwin, Danielle O'Dell (Jay), Matthew Gurnett, Kristen Eyl, Brittany Lama (Eric), Chase Prairie, Logan Prairie, Bryce Prairie and Brody Prairie. He is also survived by 10 Great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in his honor to the Special Forces Scholarship Fund.
