He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Peterson and Nellie Peterson (Poulson); his wife Eloise; his daughter Lynette Welsh; his son-in-law Buddy Sage; and his siblings, Cora Gray, Alice Gillman, Evelyn Garris, Wade Peterson, Leigh Peterson, Paul Peterson and LouAnn Gilliat.

He is survived by: his daughters, Marian Sage and Elaine Peterson; his grandchildren, Chrystal, Dustin and Megan; and his sister Norma Haynie of Seattle. He is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
