With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Karen L. Backofen of Salida, Colorado, who passed away on February 27, 2025 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this luminous soul, let her loved ones carry forward the torch of her memory, illuminating the path ahead with the warmth of her love and the brilliance of her spirit. Though Karen may journey beyond the horizon of our sight, her essence remains woven into the very fabric of our being — a guiding light in the darkness, a beacon of hope in the night.
She is survived by: her husband Robert Backofen; her daughter Amy Chamberlain (Jacob); her granddaughters, Abigail Albright, Jasmine Sanchez and Mackinsey Blossom; and her brother Clinton Sanders (Eleanor). She is also survived by her family, friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Ark Valley Humane Society; an ode to her love of animals and giving spirit.
