He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Oliver W. Steele and Hazel P. Steele; his parents, Harold Burney and Pat Burney; and his granddaughter Erica Burney.
He is survived by: his sons, Brian Burney and Adam (Ann Burney) of Bedford; his mother-in-law Melanie Burney (Knapp) of Rocky Ford, Colorado.; his grandchildren, Daylen (Emily Burney) of Kansas City, Missouri, Christian Burney of Durango, Colorado and Megan Burney of La Junta; and his former wife Kathryn Hollar Overmyer. He is also survived by cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
