He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, John Eugene Herrscher and Beatrice Letitia Wold; his son-in-law Bill Colton; his son John Eugene Herrscher of Wichita; his wife Joyce Devae Herrscher; his children, Peggy Ann Nadzan of Ellwood, Jeffrey Stephan Herrscher (Wendy) of Florence, Leslie S. Tryon of Rockvale and Bonny (Bill Colton); and his siblings, Vern Herrscher (Norma) and Kay. He was also cherished by nine grandchildren and nine great grand-children.

“Joyce, i have been looking for you for weeks. About a month ago I sent 2 letters to the addresses I had and they both came back last week. Since I am living in an Assisted Living facility, now in Sisters, Oregon, I have plenty of time to think of old friends. It saddens me to realize I won't hear that very distinctive voice again.
