He was predeceased by: his parents, Roscoe James and Francis Edna Wilkinson; his former wife Wanda James (Dibler); his wife Jacqueline Hanscom James (Wallace); and his siblings, Winnie, Delia, Thelma, Jessie, William, Frank and Raleigh.

He is survived by: his former wife Wanda Dibler; his sisters, Kay and Karen; his former wife Jacqueline "Jackie" Wallace (Hanscom); his significant other Eileen Jensen; his children, Kay Henrych (Zyg), Karen James, Robert James, Kenneth James (Diane), Marvin James (Betty Jane), Vernon James (Gail) and Jeanette O'Quin (Dennis); his stepchildren, John Wallace (Jennie), Michael Wallace (Debbie), Deborah Sbarbaro (Jim), Nancy Cornell (Dennis) and Rebecca Pankey (Tim); his sisters, Veena Ives and Edna Roesner; and his friend Rick Calhoun. He is also survived by grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
