She was predeceased by: her parents, Sadaicki Higuchi and Tsutayo Obayaski; and her husband Byron Kawata. She is survived by: her children, Debbie Kawata, Randy Kawata (Susan) and Wayne Kawata (Jennie); and her granddaughters, Sarah Kawata (Tate Mekelburg) and Samantha Hodson (Ryan).
