He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Joe Margaret McDaniel; his children, Earlene Heun (Rob), Dirk McDAniel (Anita), Ellen Sutherland (Shane), Becky Houston (Dave) and Mike McDaniel (Val); and his wife Josephine (Groy). He was also cherished by seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
