He was predeceased by: his parents, Rose Marie Shaw (Fickel) and Roger Lynn Shaw; his brother Alan Lynn Shaw; his uncles, Richard and Ronald Fickel; his aunt Arlene Hilton; and his friends, Dwight and Ruth Kelley.
He is survived by: his wife Rena Hanson; his children, Aaron (Laura) of Ames, Iowa and Rachel; his grandson Traxton of Parker, Colorado; and his sisters, Cheryl Smith of Trenton and Diane Byers (Jeff) of Dubois, Wyoming. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
