Pete Morris wrote a sympathy message

“It was very sad to hear about Gary's passing. Gary was my guitar instructor for the past two years starting when I started playing again at age 62 after years of not. He came to my house almost weekly while I was living in Parker and then started lessons over the internet after I retired and moved to my hometown in South Dakota. He taught me so much not only on how to play various finger picking and strumming techniques but also worked with me on singing. I am proud to call Gary a friend and I am so glad to have gotten to know him. I will miss him greatly and will think of him when I play Wildwood Flower and tell others that I learned it from him.
