He was predeceased by: his former wife Velma J. Merrick; and his son James W. Merrick. He is survived by: his wife Beverly Merrick; his sons, Robert A. Merrick (Bob) and Donald F. Merrick (Don); and his stepchildren, Stacy Padgett and Mark Chenault. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
