Jonathan Martin Montoya Obituary
Jonathan Martin Montoya, 43, lifelong resident of Pagosa Springs, passed away 15 May 2023 after a lengthy illness. Jonathan, AKA Jon, was born 13 August 1979 to John O. Montoya and Mary Ann Valdéz. He married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl Romine, 16 July 2010. Jon held various jobs over the years, one of which was as a lift operator at Wolf Creek Ski Resort, and later his own fencing business. . He was preceded in death by his grandparents, José Eugenio & Glorifica Montoya and John F. & Fedelina Valdéz, his uncles Gene, Leonard and Levi Montoya, his mother-in-law, Sharon Romine and sister-in-law, Hope Eckstein. Surviving him are his wife, Cheryl, daughters, Amber & Kalista Montoya, parents John O. Montoya, Mary Ann Valdéz, siblings Nathan, Michael, Eric Chisholm & Rachel, Jake Christner & Josie Montoya, sister-in-law, Amanda Richardson and father-in-law, Marvin Romine; brothers-in-law & siters-in-law, Phillip & Cherylinn Romine, Richard & Maria Levitt, Brian & Christina Cook, Joe & Kayla Romine and John Romine; Aunts & uncles, Servilia Trujillo, Norma & Vicente Duran, Rosie & Delfin Griego, Ruthie Montoya, Jake & Theresa (Tia Teddie) Maestas and Joe M. & Sue Valdéz; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.
Jonathan and his friendly, contagious smile will be greatly missed.
Cremation has occurred. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
