He was predeceased by: his siblings, Calvin, Milton, Dan Mathias, Elveda, LaVerne, Winnie, Maxine and Leona.

He is survived by: his significant other Wini Tappan; his daughters, Meschelle Quine of Charlotte and Sheryl Wardlaw (Jim) of Olathe, Colorado; his sister Phyllis Bailey of Albany, Georgia; his stepson Rick Davis (Debby) of Cory, Colorado; and his grandchildren, Katie Quine of Nashville, Tennessee, Andrew and Alex Quine of Raleigh. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
