He was predeceased by: his wife Lillian; his children, Tino, Vincent, Richard and Mary Margaret; his parents, Celestino Tafoya and Elisaida Tafoya (Archuleta); and his sister Dorothy.

He is survived by: his children, David (Kathy) and Cynthia (Jerry); his sisters, Alice, Celestina, Frances, Connie and Cathy; and his daughters-in-law, Janie (Tino) and Carla (Richard).
