He was predeceased by: his son Ronald Smith; his siblings, Georgebelle Brazelton, Rob and Jeff; and his parents, George C. Baxter and Dorthea Belle Baxter (Smith).

He is survived by: his sons, Rusty Smith (Sherry) of Merino, CO and Rick Smith (Karen) of Parker, CO; his grandchildren, Mic (Tiffany Watson), Jenny (Chad Blair), Cody Smith (Heidi), Tim (Sam Boyer) and Cassi Smith; his great grandchildren, Kelsey, Brandon Webb, Kristy Blair, Ty Blair, Seth Watson, Maxx and Zoey Boyer; his great great grandchildren, Hazelynn Blair and Jaxson Webb; his brother Jim Smith; and his wife Joann Smith (Johnson).
