He was predeceased by: his parents, Vicente Gonzales and Genoveva Gonzales; his sister Betty; his brother-in-law John McFarland of Sarasota, Florida; his brother Jerry Gonzales of Grand Junction; and his brother-in-law Antonio Rivera of Manassa, Colorado..

He is survived by: his wife Rose Gonzales of Manassa, Colorado.; his children, Travis Gonzales (Angela) of Manassa, Colorado., Betsy Salazar (Dwayne) of Manassa, Colorado. and James Gonzales of Manassa, Colorado.; and his grandchildren, Samantha Yapsir (Kevin) of Hoboken, Alexandria Sisneros (Ames) of Antonito, Colorado, Manuel Herrera (Rihana) of Alamosa, Colorado, Brandon Gonzales of Manassa, Colorado and Ryan Gonzales (Natalie) of Alamosa, Colorado.. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
