Mary Elizabeth (Warford) Englund Obituary

Mary was the second oldest of eight children. Many remember how much she enjoyed cooking and entertaining and spending time with her family and friends. She became a RLP nurse in 1952 and worked on the OBGYN floor in the labor/delivery and nursery at Denver General Hospital. She married Dr. Garth W. Englund in 1956 and they moved to Minnesota where she became a full-time mom, housewife and volunteer. After they moved back to Denver in 1958, she volunteered for many years at Porter Memorial Hospital, where she was president of the auxiliary board; she was also active in Friends of Nursing, and the Colorado Classic Horse Show, an annual benefit for the Colorado Heart Association. In 1982 she began working in several daycare centers in the Denver area. After retiring, she enjoyed participating in the Bethany Lutheran Church Young at Heart group. Her hobbies included reading, walking, enjoying her cats and dogs, crafts, music, watching movies, and doing things with her grandchildren. Her favorite thing to do was to help others and she could always be counted on to lend a caring hand.
