He was predeceased by: his parents, Simon H. Flierl and Irene E. Coressel Flierl; his son Robert P. Flierl; his siblings, Francis (Erinea), Regina Sayler (Joy), Helen Bissett (Robert), Evelyn Lloyd (Ernest) and Charles Flierl; and his niece Teresa Sayler.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Pauline Hostetler Flierl (Polly); his son Richard J. (Kay Anzia Flierl); his grandchildren, Kalyn, Alexander and Benjamin Flierl; his sister Ruth M. (Bill Callahan); his sister-in-law Beverly Flierl; and also Dylan Johnston.
