He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Sherry Ellis; his children, Brandy Ellis (Eliot Lewis) of Denver, Colorado, Travis Ellis (Isabel Gilda) of Cloverdale, Oregon, Tiffany Campbell of Framingham, Massachusetts and Whitney Ellis (Andrew Mitchell) of Golden, Colorado.; his grandchildren, Mason Lewis, Harper Lewis, Emma Mitchell, William Mitchell and Jimmy Campbell; his brother Shawn Ellis; his sister-in-law Jody Ellis of Surprise, Arizona; his brother Jerry Ellis; his sister-in-law Kristi Ellis of Bend, Oregon; his sister Sharron Ellis; his brother-in-law Richard Conte of Orland; his son-in-law Joseph Campbell (Tiffany Campbell); and his parents, John Ellis Jr. and Edythe Herzberg. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Evergreen Lake House (29612 Upper Bear Creek Rd, Evergreen, CO 80439).
