Donald Everett "Don" Garretson, 84, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, in his home.
Don was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Al & Betty Garretson on June 15, 1940. He went to high school at Treadwell in Memphis, TN. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 1962 and later earned a Master of Arts degree in the Economics of Global Sustainability from Regis University in Denver, CO in 2013. He worked as a business economist for Boeing, Pacific Northwest Bell, AT&T, Bellcore, and several start-ups over the course of his 50+ year economics career retiring from Xcel Energy in 2020. He also taught micro and macro Economics at the Community College of Denver (CCD) and Arapahoe Community College (ACC) until the fall of 2023. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus and St Mary Catholic Parish in Littleton.
Don is survived by his wife, Marla Mason and his three sons, Robert Elrod, Bailey, CO, Mark Elrod, Littleton CO, and Craig Garretson, Seattle WA. He had 6 grandchildren: Madison, Kennedy, Sabrina, Michael, Mia, and Nathan plus his first great-grandchild, Alexandria.
A Rosary service will be held at St Mary Catholic Parish, 6853 South Prince Street, Littleton, CO 80120 on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 6:30 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St Mary Catholic Parish on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at noon followed by a reception.
