He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Alvarez and Elsie Moreland (Martinez); his granddaughter Amaya Alvarez; and his brother Louis Alvarez II. He is survived by: his sons, Roman Alvarez (Minta Garrison) of Pueblo, CO and Brandon Alvarez (Molly Lareau) of Castle Rock, CO; his siblings, Janet Alvarez (Jim Miller) of Las Animas, CO and Rick Alvarez (Louise) of Pueblo, CO; his grandchildren, Adriana and Ciara Alvarez; and his stepmother Frieda Alvarez. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
