He was predeceased by: his parents, Lois Berkel and Bennie Berkel. He is survived by: his wife Paula; his children, Alan Berkel of Sonoma, CA and Andrea Berkel of Lafayette, CO; his grandson Nico; and his siblings, Ron Berkel (Elaine), Betty Bloomingburg (Joe) and Mary Casango (Charlie).
