She was predeceased by: her aunt Josephine Stubbs; her cousin Stuart Danford; her brother-in-law Patricia McCune Moyer (Otto) of Deland; and her niece Cathy Moyer Smith. She is survived by: her parent James R. Traeder; her husband Harrison (Mac); her sons, James (Mary) of Covina, CA, Timothy (Deb) of Newport Beach, CA and Scott of Colorado Springs; her granddaughters, Christina (Chris) of Costa Mesa, CA and Kelli of San Francisco, CA; her nieces, Cynthia (Bob) and Nancy (Dale); her nephew Mike Moyer (Mary); and her great grandchildren, Isabelle and Isaiah.

Jan served as a Den Mother" for the Cub Scout program and this continued as her sons got older and joined the "Boy Scout Troop" of the Koshare Indians. As time went by Jan became very important to Buck as she organized the dinners served for the Winter Night Ceremonials at the Kiva. Food wise she relished Mexican food and was an excellent cook of Mexican food. In addition to the Koshare Indians Jan was very active in her church the First Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. She heard a bell choir in Albuquerque, New Mexico and thought it a good idea for her church to have one as well. She with the help of many others raised enough money to purchase a two-octave set of bells. She went to Colorado Springs and worked with her instructor until she had the basics of directing well in hand. She directed La Junta's hand bell choir, which eventually became a three-octave choir and she was the director for 26 years. The music department of her church needed a new piano and Jan organized the ladies of the church to provide their favorite recipe in their own hand writing and gave it to her for the inclusion in the Presbyterian women's cookbook. Jan became involved in the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.), Chapter W and this was her true love to the very end of her life. Jan had been President of the Colorado State Chapter for the term of 1997 – 98. She held her State Convention on Montrose, Colorado. Jan's greatest honor during her many years as a P.E.O was the Chapter House for retiring member of P.E.O. She was the President or a board member for many years. Celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Reverend Steve Culver of the Community Presbyterian Church of Rocky Ford. In lieu of flowers those wishing to do so may make memorial contributions to the Koshare Indian Museum, PO Box 580, La Junta, CO, 81050 direct or through the funeral home. Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home & Arkansas Valley Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
