He was predeceased by: his parents, Florencia Chavez and Eugene Miera; his son Ruben Chavez; his grandmother Rosie Salazar; his grandson Dakota Chavez; his great grandchild Azyza Chavez; and his siblings, Floyd Sandoval, Nick Sandoval, George Ortega, John Miera, Ernie Ortega, Stella Werick, Willhelma Martinez, Virginia Martinez and Roberta Gonzalez.
He is survived by: his wife Priscilla Chavez of La Junta; his children, Sally Chavez of Rocky Ford, Robert Chavez of La Junta, Dolores Chavez (Lola) of La Junta and Rita Chavez of La Junta; and his siblings, Tommy Sandoval (Margo) of Denver, Raymond Sandoval (Flora) of Florida, Alice Abeyta (Manuel) of Denver, Barbara Arellano (Nasario) of Denver and Mary Lou Bustillos (Manuel) of Denver. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 11th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Upper Room Fellowship (722 Santa Fe Ave, La Junta, CO 81050).
