She was predeceased by: her parents, Catarino Barela and Magdalena Barela (Mata); her son Phillip Otero; and her brother Cruz Barela. She is survived by: her husband Rudy; her daughters, Valerie Otero of La Junta and Christine Otero of La Junta; and her grandchildren, Anthony, Jonavon Otero and Elijah Chavez. She is also survived by four sisters and two brothers; numerous nieces and nephews.
