He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose H. Valdez and Alice Gallegos Valdez; his daughter Kathy Valdez; his siblings, Andrew J. Valdez, Leo Valdez, Sister Anita Valdez and Terri Monfiletto; his nephews, Ronald Valdez, Byron Trujillo and Christian Dellatorre; and his niece Roberta Valdez.

He is survived by: his daughter Anne Miller (Mike); his granddaughters, Suzanne (Vanessa) and Nikki Martinez; and his siblings, Joseph H Valdez II (Mary Lou) and Marge Hoskins (Jeff). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
