He was predeceased by: his parents, Josephine Arlene (Rowley) and Earl Harms; his siblings, Donny, Jerry, Harry, Patricia and Golden; and his nieces, Patricia and Brenda.

He is survived by: his wife Deborah Michael; his daughters, Natalie Pankonin (Mike) and Heather Smart (Carson); his grandchildren, Derek Smart (Tracy), Seth Schneider and Jessica Pankonin; his great grandchildren, Axel and Jaxson Smart; his sisters-in-law, Jennifer Harms of Scottsbluff and Eleanor Harms of Lincoln; and his friends, Rich, Linda Stewart, Ben Slater, Roy Neese, Gene Blake, Kelly Mast, Preacher Lacy, Marc Ness, Adam Lechman and Barney. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials are suggested to a memorial in Barney's memory for later designation by his family.
