He was predeceased by: his parents, Gertrude Sherman Koontz and Pete Koontz. He is survived by: his wife Cathy Johnson Koontz; his brother Bradford Koontz; his sister-in-law Barbara Lipker Koontz; his nephews, Brian Koontz (Linda) and Michael Koontz (Sherry); and his niece Monica Koontz (Dave).
