He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Hawkins and Hannah Hawkins (Gay); his sons, Jim Hawkins and Chuck Hawkins; his son-in-law Steve Wertz; his grandson-in-law Todd Harvey; and his close friend Den Kusaka.
He is survived by: his sisters, Hannah and Lillie Mae; his wife Betty Hawkins (Derr); his children, Barbara Ann Wertz and Joseph Hawkins (Gail); his daughter-in-law Linda Hawkins; his grandchildren, Charlotte Herrera (Bryan), Shelby Homm (Justin), Aaron Wertz (Darcie), Jeff Hawkins (Leslie), Lisa Harvey (Jon Littler), Chad Hawkins (Jennifer), Amy Allen, Justin Hawkins (Julie) and Brandi French (Mike); and his sister-in-law Cora Schwanz. He is also survived by twenty great grandchildren.
