Arlace Chaisson (Chaisson) Gough Obituary
Arlace “Ardi” Chaisson Gough, 91, died February 24, 2025 in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Ardi was born January 21st, 1934 to Alfred James Chaisson and Melba Woodfin Chaisson in Walpole Massachusetts. Ardi spent her childhood as a Marbleheader and trips back to Marblehead were always “returning home”.
Ardi and Al were married in 1956 at the Tabernacle Congregational Church in Salem, Massachusetts and relocated to Hendersonville, North Carolina for Al’s work at the new General Electric facilities.
Ardi graduated in 1956 from Boston University with her degree in Sacred Music including Choral Directing, and Voice Performance. Ardi’s career always involved her love of music. She initially taught music in the Henderson County schools before she became a children’s choir director, and later the choir director at the 1st United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, NC. Ardi became a full music director and Minister of Music in the United Methodist Church in 1964. After moving to Colorado Ardi was Choir Director at Littleton’s Heritage United Methodist Church. Ardi brought music to her community through participation as a Symphony Guild member and Chair. She loved to celebrate music by singing in a local “Mother’s Four” singing group and performing in local music and theater productions.
One of the highlights and joys in Ardi’s choir directing life was to organize and lead a new choral group called “Cantabile”. These top singers came from all over the western North Carolina, performing together for seven years. With support and encouragement coming from Hendersonville’s First United Methodist Church, the group continued as a supporter of Interfaith Assistance Ministry with offerings delivered to the mission of this beloved community organization.
Ardi and husband Al have been members of the United Methodist Church for 68 years. Ten of those year were retirement years at St. Andrew UMC in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
Ardi is survived by her husband, Alfred Burton Gough, a son, Peter Chaisson Gough and two daughters; Susan Gough Baldwin (Peter) and Catherine Burton Weiner (Bradley). Ardi deeply loved her six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Andrew United Methodist Church (9203 S University Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126).
