He was predeceased by: his parents, Timothy Murphy and Ann Murphy; his sister Kathleen Boyle; and his children, Laura Ann Murphy and Daniel Joseph Murphy II.

He is survived by: his wife Joan Dubeck; his daughters, Kathleen Tate (John), Maureen Batson (Chris) and Eileen Hoffmann (Jerry); and his grandchildren, Margaret Tate (Herman Phillips IV), John Tate, Joseph Tate, Georgia Batson, Henry Batson, Abigail Hoffmann, Samantha Hoffmann and Olivia Hoffmann.
