He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Michels and Dorothy Michels (Sperber); and his siblings, Robert "Bob" Michels and Elizabeth Hayes. He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Michels of Grand Junction; his children, Randy Michels of Grand Junction, Greg Michels (Nicoletta Moschetti) of Grand Junction and Gayle Michels of Grand Junction; his siblings-in-law, Robert "Bob" Carpendale (Linda) and Ruth Michels; his grandchildren, Andrew Hunger, Ashly Baker and Jake Hunger; and his great grandchildren, Ellie Baker and Parker Hunger. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.

A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, November 12th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Martin Mortuary (550 North Ave, Grand Junction, CO 81501).
