He is survived by: his children, Heather Leopard and Joseph Thayer; his grandchildren, Jade Schuetz, Damien Leopard, Philip Leopard, Jodee Thayer, Blake Leopard and Jozee Thayer; his nephew James Thayer; and his niece Alaina Goldstein.

“Carl was a DJ at KAFM Community Radio in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was friendly and a gentle soul. I was impressed he did some late night shows from 9 to midnight. I asked him how he dodged the wildlife in the road and he said he just drives slow. If you have a photo you can share with me I will add it to a flier of other passing DJs.
