He was predeceased by: his son Thomas Vargas; and his sister Francisca Peña. He is survived by: his wife Martina Peña; his children, Regina I. Peña (Alfredo), Victor Vargas (Sally) of Lamar, Amelia Vargas of Johnson City, KS and Lucille Medina of Lamar; his grandchildren, Ysabel "Chavie" Vargas (America) of Granada, Nonie Aguirre (Johan) of Granada, Gerarda Vargas of Johnson City, KS. and Victoria Martinez (Oscar) of Johnson City, KS.; and his siblings, Anselmo Peña (Esperanza), Abel Peña (Graciela), Antonio Peña (Elvira), Santiago Peña (Amelia) and Ignacio Peña (Graciela). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family and a host of friends.
