He was predeceased by: his wife Diane. He is survived by: his daughters, Chandra Polk (Wes) and Kendra Sund (Alex) of Golden; his grandchildren, Casey, Kayden and Kendal; his great grandchild Everett; and his siblings, Bill Kay, Molly Harrison, Betsy Scally and Kathy Lipsky.
Kay's last professional chapter was as a development consultant for the Colorado School of Mines Foundation, which he joined in 2010.
