He was predeceased by: his parents, Gene Carney and Mary Carney (McDonald); his wife Nancy; and his siblings, Don, Jerry, Jim, Pat, Mike and Janese (Hancock).

He is survived by: his children, Mike (Sally), Bryan (Dana), Dennis, Kathleen, Sheila Freischlag (Keith) and Pat (Derek). He is also survived by eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
