She was predeceased by: her parents, Bill Cheng Kyu Kim and Jung Hee Lee; her sister Mary Hae Kyong Kim; and her niece Ashley. She is survived by: her husband Thomas Hegdal; her former husband Michael Mayeda; her children, Julia Halualani, Shelby Hegdal, Jeffrey Mayeda and Elliot Hegdal; her nieces, Lauren Kirkland, Rachel Kirkland and Grace Turner; her nephew David Kirkland; and her granddaughters, Emi and Mei.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Homeward Alliance in her honor, a cause she cared deeply about.
