He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Steely and William Steely; and his brother Donald "Jake" Steely. He is survived by: his wife Lois Steely; his children, Tamara Lindenstein (Joe) and Tyler Steely (Jen); and his siblings, Mike Steely and Alice Glanz (Chuck). He is also survived by four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

“Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Ron. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by Teri and me. I met Ron in 1978 when I started working at Sterling paving. Our friendship grew over the 40-some years we knew one other. Ron and my careers paralleled each other at times while working at Sterling paving. This allowed us to communicate and work together in a close relationship. Ron was always a gentleman and polite individual. God be with you Ron.”
