With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Janis Patricia Wheeler (Fort Collins, Colorado), born in Denver, Colorado, who passed away on August 4, 2023 at the age of 71. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Lieutenant Colonel Edward F. Brown and Pauline Hanks of Louisiana; her former spouse Pauline Hanks; her brother David L. Brown of Brisbane, California.; her husband David Wheeler of Sidney, Ohio.; her children, Lacey Wheeler Kirby of Longmont, Whitney Wheeler Gilles of Frederick, Jordan David and Wheeler of Fort Collins; and her grandchildren, Quinn Gilles, Dominic Gilles, Josephine Kirby and Charlotte Kirby. She was also cherished by her family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her name to Pathways Hospice in Fort Collins whose loving care for Janis was extraordinary.

I did not know of her illness and fwas sad that I did not get to say goodbye. .As high school buddies, Janis was always beautiful, smart, and full of adventure. Her bright eyes were filled with excitement, enthusiasm and love of life. Her children and grandchildren will carry her spirit and create in her honor.
