He is survived by: his children, Sean Rutherford (Julie), Sarah Lindgren (Chris), Ellen Doherty (Mike), Andrea Vercollone (Luke) and Caitlin Emerson (Cole); his siblings, Barbara Martin (Ken), Marlene Sutherland (Jerry) and Larry Rutherford (Fran); and his grandchildren, Jacob, Patrice, Maddie, Caela Rutherford, Connor, McKenzie, Dylan, Aiden, Teagan Lindgren, Emily, Ariana, Addie, Jackson, Kolbe Doherty, Augustine, Gemma, Estella, Zaylee, Sebastian Vercollone, Tavian, Felicity, Beckett and Ephrem Emerson. He is also survived by 23 beautiful grandchildren.

Ed's sense of humor was great, he was smart and knew the details behind human services funding, and he was a caring, compassionate person. Ed was a great guy, easy to get along with and he had a great laugh. I am blessed to have known Ed and I only wish peace and comfort to his loved ones. My deepest condolences. Les Cowger”
