He is survived by: his wife Patricia "Penny" Evelyne Nelson Smith; and his children, Cheryl Jean Jenkinson of Moab, Utah, William James Smith (Beverly) of Lancaster, California, Gregory Alan Smith (Juli) of Lino Lakes, Minnesota, Mari Chris Harguth (Charles) of Frederick, Colorado, Scott Andrew Smith (Jane) of Knife River, Minnesota, Timothy Patrick Smith of Superior, Colorado, Kari Lynn Smith of Firestone, Colorado and Mollie Colleen Harings (Trevor) of Anchorage, Alaska. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
