He was predeceased by: his parents, Rue Harland 'Si' and Dorothy "Dottie" Barnes; his niece Rachel Corley; his siblings-in-law, Ken Thurston, Butch Melton, Roy McLaughlin and Janie Mclaughlin; and his close friend Frankie Bellino.
He is survived by: his daughters, Donna Barnes and Sandy Gurule (Larry); his grandchildren, Logan and Bradin Gurule; his wife Barbara; his sister Dixie Melton; his sister-in-law Helen Thurston; his nephews, Ross Melton, Derek Corley and Bill Garmon (Tasha); his niece Jennifer McLaughlin; and his great-nieces, Isla Corley and Billie Quinn Garmon.
In Lieu of flowers a memorial contribution can be made to La Plata County 4-H, Knights of Columbus, or St. Columba School.
