She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Carl Eklund and Leona Eklund; her significant other Clyde Mertz; her sons, Thomas (Janet), Richard (Robin), Charles (Paula) and Daniel (Theresa); her grandchildren, Alison, Charles (Andrea), Dana (Kenneth), Molly (Tony), Nathanael and Warren; her sisters, Doris Calder (David) and Margaret Prentice (Wayne); and her grandson Thomas Coulter Mertz. She was also cherished by four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Deon's name to First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive, Durango, Colorado.
