We bid farewell to Hattie B. Smith (Denver, Colorado), born in Tchula, Mississippi, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on November 10, 2024 at the age of 98. Hattie touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. She was predeceased by: her parents, Lee Ford and Parrena Ford; her siblings, Minnie, Frank, Robert, Lee Jr., Hulena, Paul, Gladys, Rebecca and Johnny; her husband Johnnie Smith; and her children, Doyce, Delbert and Kelvin.
She is survived by: her niece Janice Turner; her grandchildren, Caryl Smith Gilbert (Gregory) and Mandingo Cooper (Sandra Byone); her great grandchildren, Osiris Gilbert, Xavier Gilbert, Spencer Gilbert, Gregory Alexander Gilbert Jr. and Danielle Hendrix; and her goddaughter Rosalyn Colen. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 20th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Pipkin Braswell Funeral Home & Cremation (6601 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80220). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Central Baptist Church (2400 California St, Denver, CO 80205). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Fort Logan National Cemetery (4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236). A reception will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Pipkin Braswell Funeral Home & Cremation (6601 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80220).
In 2022, at the age of 96, Hattie achieved a lifelong dream through the Make-A-Wish Foundation when she traveled with her niece Janice Turner, back to Tchula, Mississippi, to visit her parent's gravesites.
