He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Nielsen and Margaret Nielsen; and his sister Debra Kay Nielsen. He is survived by: his wife Janet Spindle McCarthy Nielsen; his sister Leanne Nielsen; his stepdaughter Carrie Thompson (Don); and his grandson Arin Thompson (Mallory). He is also survived by aunt and uncle, and several cousins and friends.
