He was predeceased by: his parents, Fern Louise (Tuxhorn) and Carl Samuel Cole; and his sisters, Sharon Codner and Loretta Fay Baumfalk. He is survived by: his mothers-in-law, Linda Barber and Carol Lynn Brooks; his wife Carol Lynn Cole of Delta; his children, James Cole of San Diego, California, Kimberly Tarrant of Copperas Cove and Melissa Harris of Kingwood, Texas; and his siblings, Jimmy Cole (Becky) of Idaho, Emma Rippley (Doug) of New Mexico and Mary Redder (Clifford) of Wyoming. He is also survived by five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
