He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smokoski and Helen Smokoski; his wife Joan of Walla Walla, Washington.; his daughter Shauna Steingrebe of Worland, Wyoming; and his brother John Smokoski of Randolph, Vermont.
He is survived by: his children, Melanie Cook of Dolores and Scott Smokoski of Fort Worth, Texas.; and his sister Virginia Smokoski of Auburn. He is also survived by ses five nieces, six grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.
