He is survived by: his wife Elena; his sons, Dale "Happi" Jr. of Rapid City, SD, Elias AmericanHorse of Rapid City, SD and Elijah Joey AmericanHorse; his stepdaughter Samantha Morris Towaoc of Colorado; his brothers, Albert AmericanHorse of Oklahoma City, OK and Gerald "Chubb"; his niece Velvedene "Wil-Ejo" (Rowayne); his nephew Calvert of South Dakota; his brother Denver AmericanHorse; his stepdaughter Precious Angel; his nieces, Janelle Tobacco, Michelle Tobacco and Marybeth AmericanHorse; his nephew Manuel AmericanHorse; and his grandchildren, Samantha Tobacco, Dennis Tobacco and Nathaniel.
Visitation was held on Monday, January 6th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ertel Memorial Chapel (42 N Market St, Cortez, CO 81321). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Ute Mountain Ute Recreation Center (495 Sunset Blvd, Cortez, CO 81334). A burial was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 11:45 AM to 12:15 PM at the Cortez Cemetery (27440 US-160, Cortez, CO 81321).
