It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles John Porter (Cortez, Colorado), who passed away on December 28, 2020, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his brother Stuart Porter; his parents-in-law, Doris and Curtis Hicks; his uncles, Albert Porter (Gerry), William Porter (Rose), John and Robert Porter; and his aunt Ruth Englehart (Carl).

He is survived by: his wife Nancy Hicks Porter; his daughters, Mary Porter and Marsha Porter-Norton; his friend Dunton; his granddaughter Laura Spann; his children, Andy Spann (Megan), Parker and Layne; and his siblings, Ardy Ptolemy and Richard Porter.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in John's name to the charity of your choice.

“Hello Nancy and all the Porter Families, I'm sorry to have missed your presentation and memorial on Saturday. John is one of my heroes. I thought he brought a lot of common sense to the water processes. I used to spend a lot of time reasoning out conflicts with him on the Dolores Project. I spent a lot of late nights at the District office with the board going over issues and I think he conducted meetings and leadership as well as any I experienced in 26 years. Ken Beegles”
